Lowcountry Smokehouse Draft Dinner Announced in Downtown Charleston

Southend Brewery and Smokehouse along with Charleston Culinary Tours present Lowcountry Smokehouse Draft Dinner on Wednesday, February 12th at 7pm at the downtown restaurant located at 161 E. Bay Street. Chef Garrett Priester & Sous Chef Jonathan DuPriest have prepared an authentic, five-course menu that showcases Southend Brewery beers that are thoughtfully paired with dishes inspired by seasonal flavors and local ingredients with a unique smokehouse style twist. Charleston Culinary Tours Offers True Farm-to-Table Experience

CCT food2 fmCharleston Culinary Tours’ Chef’s Showcase at the Farmer’s Market is a two and a half hour tour that highlights Charleston’s award-winning farmer’s market as it allows guests to meet some of the local farmers and pick out a variety of ingredients for brunch. Then as a local chef incorporates the chosen components into a true farm-to-table meal for participants to enjoy back at the chef’s restaurant, the tour guide leads guests on an approximately 45 minute historic walking tour. The Farmers Market Tours are available on Saturdays at 9:30am from mid-April through mid-December according to Charleston Farmers Market schedule. Meeting outside of the Visitors’ Center located at 375 Meeting Street, the tour is $50 per person and includes non-alcoholic beverages and chef’s brunch.

“As one of the most popular of Charleston Culinary Tours, most Farmer’s Market tours sell out and reservations are required in advance,” said co-owner Oscar Hines. “Groups need to be booked at least three days prior to tour.”

Held rain or shine, each Charleston Culinary Tour visits several different restaurants, bars or the Farmer’s Market to combine elements of a historical tour with a culinary adventure! There are five tours available including Historic Downtown, Upper King Street, The Farmer’s Market, Chefs’ Kitchen and Mixology. Chosen by various restaurant and bar partners, the menu features an array of eclectic dishes and concoctions that provide insight into Charleston’s cuisine and cocktail scene. On each tour, guests will not only have an opportunity to sample some of the Lowcountry’s finest offerings, but also to meet the owners, chefs and mixologists behind Charleston’s impressive culinary and bar innovations.

20th Annual Reindeer Run

20TH ANNUAL REINDEER RUN

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4TH

Runners begin at 9:00 am and Walkers at 9:05 am. The race route starts and finishes in front of Southend Brewery.

The Party – starts at the finish line in Southend Brewery, the Official Race Headquarters. There will be plenty of music, food, and drinks – and it’s all free with race number. Complimentary beer will be served from 9:30am – 11:00am on the 1st & 3rd floors as racers cool down and the awards are presented. The presentation of race awards will be held on the stage in front of Southend Brewery immediately following the costume contest.

The After Party – starting at 11:00am the real party begins with the Official Reindeer Run Post Race Party. Southend Brewery beer, Bloody Marys, appetizers and more will be at happy hour prices until 2:00pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Reindeer Run beneficiaries.

The Band:
And don’t forget about the live music provided by Charleston’s very own KURLY WOLF! You have seen this great local band all around town and now they will rock out with all us reindeers.

The Reindeer Run, presented by Piggly Wiggly and Half-moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston, SC. The event has grown significantly over the years; from only a few hundred participants to record attendance of almost 3,000 runners in 2009. Throughout the history of the event, the Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) has donated over $370,000 to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2009 alone CSC donated $70,000 to the Children’s Hospital. The funds generated from the Reindeer Run help MUSC develop and maintain a variety of programs in the Children’s Hospital and the Darby Children’s Research Institute, including research in the prevention and treatment of childhood diseases.
