awesFriends of Coastal South Carolina announces the 12th annual Music and Oysters for Wildlife on Saturday, January 21 from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the Sewee Outpost in Awendaw. It will be a fantastic day of music and all you can eat Bulls Bay oysters. The Rusty Rudder crew will be cooking the BBQ and chili this year. The music lineup includes Minimum Wage, Hans Wentzel & The Eighty Sixers with guests Mark Bryan, Danielle Howle, and Doug Jones, The Loose Hinges, Ed Hunnicutt and the Red Dog Ramblers

Presented by Friends of Coastal South Carolina, the event benefits the group’s environmental education programs which allow thousands of kids along the South Carolina coast to explore the wonders of our natural world each year. In addition to teaching kids about their responsibility as stewards of our environment, the science focused programs allow kids to see their in-class science lessons come to life in the outdoor classrooms of our national forest and wildlife refuges.

“Although we support many conservation projects for our coastal national forest and wildlife refuges, environmental education remains our flagship program,” said Executive Director Grace Gasper. “We must have a knowledgeable and engaged next generation making decisions to continue to protect our natural resources.”

The event also features an “out of this world” silent auction with incredible bargains on travel, local dining, and outdoor gear. Advanced tickets $35  or $40 at the gate. Children under 12 are free. Ticket includes live music and all you can eat oysters. All beer wine and food sales benefit Friends of Coastal South Carolina. Held rain or shine, no pets or outside alcohol is allowed. Tickets are available at www.sccoastalfriends.org.
