Kids Garden Offers By The Hour, Drop In Childcare Alternative

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 15, 2021 by Lowcountry Boil

As kids are out of school and parents are back to work, Kids Garden is the perfect solution for busy families. The drop in creative arts learning center was built around filling the gap in traditional childcare. It provides parents peace of mind so they can have a stimulating, convenient and safe place for their children to thrive, learn and grow. As many childcare providers have less availability due to the pandemic, Kids Garden offers an affordable, by the hour alternative to committed childcare options.  “If parents don’t have the luxury of close family in town, the solid babysitter down the street or a trusted best friend as a neighbor, no worries,” said Founder Maren Anderson-Moore. “Whether kids drop in for an hour, join our weekly afternoon art and enrichment classes or enroll in a summer camp program, we’ve got you covered!”

With locations in Charleston, Asheville, Steamboat Springs and Houston coming soon, Kids Garden was founded to encourage individual growth in a natural and open learning environment. Children can learn, explore, create and interact with old and new friends, get exercise, enjoy music, take part in circle time, learn a new yoga pose, try a new instrument or become an exciting character while engaging in pretend play. Whether parents would like to make a quiet trip to the grocery store or need to focus on work, they can count on Kids Garden’s flexible hours and experienced childcare providers.

178The 5th Annual Charleston MAC-OFF is scheduled for October 25, 2014 from 2pm to 7pm at the Grove at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant. Last year, over 4,000 people gathered to sample traditional and gourmet offerings of Mac & Cheese and award bragging rights to The Best Mac & Cheese in Charleston.

No other food combines love, comfort, and Southern roots like Mac and Cheese. This melt in youth mouth mainstay is a classic that is served as a side dish, a pasta entre, a casserole, fried appetizer or even dessert on many Charleston menus. So we have created an event that gives tribute to our love of this versatile cheesy dish and we are seeking to crown the best of the best.

The MAC-OFF gives Charlestonians the chance to get out and enjoy the crisp weather with great comfort food, music, beer and wine, and other activities. This annual event promotes and supports local restaurants, Southern food culture, the local economy and our nonprofit partner, Lowcountry Local First.

This year enjoy music by Jared Blake from The Voice and Adalya, a cooking demo by Southern Season and a crowd of local businesses and vendors.

Three Prizes Awarded: Best Mac & Cheese Critics Choice, Best Mac & Cheese People’s Choice & Best Local Ingredients Critics Choice.

General Admission $10 (plus online processing fee of $2.95)

Food, drink and Mac & Cheese tasting tickets are $1 (There is an opportunity to buy these online in savings bundles).

Just in time for Mother’s Day: Sugar Baby Planners

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 3, 2011 by Lowcountry Boil

The go-to coach for everything maternity, Sugar Baby Planners is set to launch in Charleston on Mother’s Day. Like a wedding planner for happy couples, a baby planner will assist soon-to-be parents with the myriad of choices they face before their baby arrives. Parents can spend entire weekends web surfing and shopping for all of mom and baby’s needs and still not know what to choose. Not to mention, deciding whether you want professional baby bump photos, who offers pre-natal massage and when the next baby class opens for registration. This new consulting business will offer expecting moms peace of mind throughout their pregnancy.

Owner Sunny Gray with her family by Taylor Stewart Photography

As a mom of two, owner Sunny Gray knows the to-do list runs long and the options seem endless. “Most women have jobs when they discover they’re pregnant. So, they have limited time to research the best stroller, whether they want a doula or what’s up with the cloth diaper revival,” she explains. “I want to help new moms enjoy their pregnancy and feel confident that they are prepared for the new addition to their family.”

Sugar Baby Planners will meet with new parents and then create personalized recommendations and provide referrals. Also, clients will receive a copy of The Mom Manual loaded with pregnancy tips and links to local and national resources. For example, moms can find when and where you can catch a prenatal yoga class or where you can create a personalized baby website. In addition to consulting, Sugar Baby Planners can help new parents create a baby registry to fit their needs, stock the nursery, provide advice on how to “green” the nursery, schedule food delivery post baby, get the baby announcements out and much more.

For further information about Sugar Baby Planners, contact Sunny at Sunny@SugarBabyPlanners.com or visit www.sugarbabyplanners.com.
