Easter weekend activities at Middleton Place have expanded beginning with Easter Eggstravaganza, an eco-friendly holiday celebration on Saturday, April 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Among other activities, the event includes egg hunts and colonial games with hand-crafted clay eggs made by the Stableyards potter as “prize” eggs.
In the Plantation Stableyards, children can learn the art of egg dyeing using vegetables, plants, flowers and other natural items. There will be an Easter Bunny meet and greet, story time and arts and crafts. Age appropriate games include egg rolls on the parterre, egg tosses, jacks, hoops and sack races. Baby lambs, chicks and bunnies will help bring in the unofficial start to spring. There is no additional charge beyond general admission to attend Easter Eggstravaganza. Middleton Place Foundation members and guests of the Inn at Middleton Place are free.
Middleton Place Restaurant will offer several new food and beverage options over the holiday weekend. During Easter Eggstravaganza, a Low Country buffet will be served in the Pavilion ($30 adults and children 14+; $15 ages 6-13, $5 ages 5-4, 3 and under are free) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Buffet includes field green salad with Middleton dressing, potato salad, deviled eggs, rice and gravy, collard greens, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, corn pudding, fried chicken, carved ham and pecan and chocolate pies.
