Mixson Guest Chef Summer Cookout Series
Básico chef Bryan Cates invites Chef Graham Dailey of Peninsula Grill to help grill up some poolside treats at Mixson Bath & Racquet Club. During the events, the chefs will prepare one dish each for three courses – appetizer, entree, and dessert. Twisted Cypress Brewing, a new local microbrewery, will provide the brews for this dinner series. The series benefits Metanoia’s Summer Youth Freedom School, which identifies at-risk youth with leadership potential and teaches them the skills necessary to succeed. The Glass Onion’s Annual Julia Child Birthday Dinner
On Saturday, August 15, what would have been Julia Child’s 103rd birthday, The Glass Onion will host its annual celebration dinner in her honor. For $45 per person, dinners can enjoy a special three-course menu for the night. There will be optional French wine pairings for $25 per person.
“The Julia Child Dinner Celebration has become one of our most highly anticipated events we host all year,” stated Chef Chris Stewart. “It is fun for the kitchen as it gives us a chance to do something totally off our regular menu. Instead of our traditional all southern, we offer an entire French focused menu based on recipes from Julia’s cookbooks. We have never done the exact same dish twice and are pretty excited about what we have planned for this year.

Ballpark Festival Of Beers
Presented by Kickin’ Chicken, Ballpark Festival of Beers offers over 100 American and International Ales, Stouts, Lagers, Pilsners and Specialty Brews on Saturday, August 15th at The Joe! $25 tickets are available at Kickin’ Chicken, $30 tickets are available at the RiverDogs Box Office or at RileyParkEvents.com and VIP are $50. Harbour Club’s 21st Anniversary Beach Bash
The Harbour Club opens its doors to the public to celebrate its 21st birthday with a DJ, photo booth, beach-themed cocktails, and a beach-themed menu by Executive Chef William Montgomery. The menu includes items like watermelon gazpacho, roasted corn with chile lime butter, lobster succotash, and alligator sausage. The cost of the event is $45 per person (plus tax and service charge). Hot Nights & Holy City Dinner
The dog days are approaching and summer produce is abundant – time again for Middleton Place Restaurant and Holy City Brewing to host the 2nd Annual Hot Nights & Holy City Beer Dinner. In contrast to the January Braise & Brew dinner partnership, with its heavier, braised meat and dark winter beer pairings, Hot Nights & Holy City offers lighter fare with summer seasonal brews.
Executive Chef Brandon Buck has reached out to regional farmers for their freshest and finest to create his five-course summer dinner. South Carolina’s Manchester Farms quail, North Carolina’s Ashley Farms guinea hen and Heritage Farms pork belly, along with a Carolina shrimp bouillabaisse, will heat up the sultry night.

GrowFood Carolina’s 2nd Annual Mushroom Gathering
Back by popular demand, GrowFood hosts the 2nd Annual Mushroom Gathering. Many of your favorite chefs will be dishing up delicious, ‘shroom-centric bites and mushroom growers and foragers on hand to answer all of your fungus questions plus there will be live music and local libations to add to the fun.
Charleston Italian Festival
The Charleston Italian Festival is a celebration of Italian Culture. The food, wine, art, entertainment and cars, really nice cars of Italy will be represented. There’s so much to celebrate, we’re closing the street to do it! At the Charleston Italian Festival you’ll taste cuisine from some of the area’s best Italian restaurants. You’ll sample wines from the Italian countryside and Italian beers you’ve been dying to try. The Southern Living Taste Of Charleston
The Southern Living Taste of Charleston, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association is a 3-day event showcasing taste-tempting delights served by Charleston restaurants. Historic Boone Hall Plantation is transformed into a sea of culinary enchantment! 50 of the Lowcountry’s favorite casual and fine dining restaurants serving sample size portions + beer and wine. Highlights of the Main Event include: specialty and imported beer tasting tent, live music, the legendary “Waiters’ Race” and the “Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow.” Food and drink tickets are sold separately. The purpose of Hogs for the Cause is to provide aid and relief of those variable expenses and economic burdens which families face while their child is being treated for pediatric brain cancer. Currently, Hogs For The Cause operates as the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States and has given grants to over 200 families in need in just 6 years and partnered with several hospitals nationally, including MUSC Children’s Hospital.

10th Annual Taste Of The World Fundraiser
The Charleston Port & Seafarers’ Society (ChaPSS) will present the 10th Annual Taste of the World on Thursday, November 5, marking a milestone anniversary for the organization’s largest annual fundraising event. Each year, this event raises thousands of dollars for ChaPSS, a charity that welcomes and serves the needs of thousands of men and women who make their livelihood in the port or at sea.
This year, Taste of the World is moving to the Omar Convention Center at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant. The new venue will accommodate up to 800 attendees, who will have the opportunity to sample a variety of international cuisines from some of Charleston’s best restaurants including Brittons BBQ, Coleman Public House, Saveurs Du Monde, Big Game Bar & Grill, and more. Guests may also enter to win prizes and participate in a silent auction. This year’s silent auction will feature items including two six-day African Photo Safaris for two, a one-week stay in Kiawah, a one-week stay in Williamsburg, a dinner cruise for six, gift certificates, artwork, and much more.
