9th Annual Follywood Oyster Roast Benefiting Warrior Surf Foundation

Follywood Productions will once again be raising funds & awareness for Warrior Surf Foundation at the 9th Annual Follywood Oyster Roast at The Barrel on Saturday, March 2nd. Doors will open at noon with live music from 1:30-8pm. Participating food trucks will be Rebel Taqueria and more. More than a dozen local vendors will be set up inside the venue as well. The fundraiser will be family-friendly with activities like jump castles & carnival games. While The Barrel is equal parts craft brew pub, dog park and music venue, for this event no dogs or pets will be allowed. Admission for the 8th Annual Follywood Oyster Roast is $15 at the door with oysters sold separately.

A CNN Hero award winner, Warrior Surf Foundation is a veteran-operated nonprofit organization helping vets and active service members with PTSD, physical injuries, survivor’s guilt and social anxiety through an adventure-based approach to therapy and wellness through surfing as well as helping to build bonds beyond the battlefield. “We are super stoked that we are able to partner with Follywood Productions for their 9th Annual Oyster Roast,” said Tyler Crowder, co-founder of WSF. “This is a great opportunity for the community to come out and learn a little more about our organization and meet some of the team, all while enjoying oysters, food trucks, beer, live music, local art and family activities that Follywood has put together.”

Lowcountry Autism Foundation to host Stokes Volkswagen 4th Annual Oysters for Autism

The Lowcountry Autism Foundation is set to shuck things up over some hot steamy oysters for a cause at their fourth annual Oysters for Autism event at Bowens Island Restaurant on Sunday, November 12th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online prior to the day of the event at www.lafinc.org.

The menu for the event includes oysters, chili and hot dogs and also includes non-alcoholic beverages. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Local artist Jack Triebold and local alternative rock band Bateman’s Stud Farm will provide entertainment. The event will also feature a silent auction with items ranging from generous gift certificates to businesses in the area to golf outings. Sponsors include title sponsor Stokes Volkswagen as well as Motley Rice, Lucey Mortgage, Cresswind Charleston and more. 

The Lowcountry Autism Foundation’s strives to improve the lives of families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They provide clinical diagnostic assessments and programs to support families throughout the lifespan. LAF’s goal is to decrease the stress on the family and connect them with every available resource.  With a mostly volunteer, multidisciplinary staff LAF has provided over half a million dollars in free autism services while all funds raised stay in South Carolina.

Sewee Association: Music and Oysters for Wildlife

SeweeSewee Association presents Music and Oysters for Wildlife on Saturday, January 11th from 2-8pm at Sewee Outpost, 4853 U.S. 17 North in Awendaw, South Carolina. The live music line up includes The Blue Dogs, Mark Bryan and the Occasional Milkshake, Danielle Howle, Doug Jones, Lincoln Middle High School Steel Band & Red Dog Ramblers. Guests will enjoy all you can eat Bulls Bay Oysters, a live and silent auction and other food and beverages available for purchase. $35 Tickets are on sale at Sewee Dental Care, Sewee Outpost and Etix with children under 12 free.

The proceeds from this event will help the SEWEE Association carry out its mission. The South Eastern Wildlife and Environment Education Association (SEWEE Association) is the Friend’s Group for the National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) and National Forest (NF) of coastal South Carolina that works with federal partners to achieve their mission in biological, cultural and educational activities.
