Home Team BBQ Lowcountry Blues Schedule

Home Team BBQ has built its brand on blues, bluegrass, and Americana/rock/country.  They have always honored the blues with a heavy rotation during the Lowcountry Blues Bash and was certainly disappointed that the long-running Charleston staple went on hiatus this year.  We all certainly hope Gary Erwin could revive his event for the future. Nevertheless, at Home Team BBQs, those first two weekends in February will always be ‘Blues Bash’.

Down Home Blues Open Mic and Guitar Clinic

Posted in Sales & Events with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 10, 2010 by Lowcountry Boil

Down Home Blues Open Mic and Guitar Clinic with bluesman Steve Cheseborough will take place on Tuesdays, November 23, 30 and December 7 at Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ, located at 2209 Middle Street on Sullivan’s Island. At 6pm, guests can meet and greet with Steve and receive a brief blues lesson and then at 7pm can get on stage to sing the blues or listen to others during the blues open mic until 8pm. The evenings will wind up with a set from the master himself from about 9-10pm. These are nights to come sing us the blues, get a lesson in how to play them or just sit back and listen while enjoying award-winning BBQ and fine libations such as the famous frozen painkiller!

Bluesman, author, and professor, Steve Cheseborough is steeped in the music of Memphis Minnie, Muddy Waters, Charley Jordan, Bo Carter, Robert Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Lemon Jefferson and the other great blues artists and works from their original recordings as well as his experience in Delta juke joints. Steve Cheseborough plays the 1920s-30s-style acoustic blues, sounding eerily like an old 78 record, but without the scratches.

Joe Bonamassa Set to Play Performing Arts Center

Joe Bonamassa will be playing on November 22nd at 8pm at the Performing Arts Center in North Charleston. Tickets start at $47.65 and are available at Ticketmaster.

As Joe Bonamassa grows his reputation as one of the world’s greatest guitar players, he is also evolving into a charismatic blues-rock star and singer-songwriter of stylistic depth and emotional resonance. His ability to connect with live concert audiences is transformational, and his new album, Black Rock, brings that energy to his recorded music more powerfully than ever before. Keeping with his blues roots but fluently moving between rock n’ roll and international sounds, 2010 is not only a new decade but a new era for Bonamassa.

“The New King of Blues” – Guitarist Magazine

“Bonamassa is a bold talent.” – Billboard

“Wicked guitar thrills.” – Mike Joyce, Washington Post
