7th Annual Bo Roast & Chili Cook-Off

15781222_10154528121802928_4094553394987925712_nJoin Camp Happy Days and the James Island Vikings on Saturday, January 28th from 12pm to 6pm for the 7th Annual Bo Roast & Chili Cook-Off at the Smoky Oak Taproom on James Island. The event will include an Oyster Roast, Chili Cook-Off and Live Music featuring Hunter Ford, Mark Jackson, Eddie Bush and The Shakin’ Martinis. Award plaques will be given to best Individual/Team, Best Restaurant and People’s Choice.  All proceeds will directly benefit Camp Happy Days.

Since 1982, over 1,500 children with cancer and their families have benefitted from the cost-free, year-round programs. From age-specific on-going programs, family counseling and financial assistance, “dream dates,” hospital visits, holiday giving and more, these offerings help relieve worries and strengthen family bonds. Developed with guidance from the medical community, these programs help improve the emotional, physical and psychological health of children and families affected by pediatric cancer. At Camp Happy Days, kids discover the power within them – as they share life-changing experiences with kids just like themselves who are battling cancer.

6th Annual Charleston Bed Race

Bed-Race-2015-PosterOn Sunday, March 22nd, the 6th Annual Charleston Bed Race will be held at its new venue, Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island. This annual event brings the Charleston community together to raise money for childhood cancer through the non-profit organization, Camp Happy Days. Camp Happy Days hosts a summer camp and other life-changing programs throughout the year for children in South Carolina battling cancer.

The Bed Race will begin with a parade of decorated beds at 1:00pm at Blackbaud Stadium with the race to follow. Beds will race two at a time for the distance of approximately two city blocks, and awards will be given at the end of the race in a variety of categories. In addition to the race, guests will also enjoy live music by Dan’s Tramp Stamp and The Money Bags, as well as food provided by local Charleston food trucks.

3rd Annual Charleston Bed Race

On April 15th, Camp Happy Days will host the 3rd Annual Charleston Bed Race.  This happy event, while fun for participants and spectators alike benefits Camp Happy Days, the year round program for South Carolina’s children with cancer. Camp Happy Days mission is to give children diagnosed with cancer and their families hope and support by providing programs, special events emotional support and access to crisis resources.

So, jump under the sheets and roll down to Mary Murray Boulevard in Hampton Park on April 15th.   At approximately 1:00 pm.,  the 3rd Annual Charleston Bed Race will commence on the backside of the park.  A grand parade of the racing beds before the judges and spectators will take place before the heats begin.  The beds will be judged on the fastest bed, slowest bed, best decorated, most outrageously decorated, the “What were you thinking?” bed, and the People’s Choice Award.

The heats will involve two beds at a time racing a distance of approximately two city blocks.  These heats will continue until we are down to two beds.  The fun continues until we have a bed race champion team who will reign for the year.   Libations and food will be served.

Don’t miss out on the chance to expose your creative side by decorating the bed of your dreams and throwing some wheels on it on April 15th at Hampton Park!
