3nd Annual Charleston Beer Festival

394766_380540418671748_1414918430_nCharleston’s largest pop-up beer festival, Charleston Beer Garden, returns to Brittlebank Park for the 3rd annual celebration of the suds next weekend on Saturday, May 17. Modernly inspired German biergartens will once again line the shores of the Ashley River, creating the perfect place to kick back with a beer under the shade of the oaks.

The festival features an impressive line-up of over thirty craft brews from the Palmetto state & beyond. The brewery line-up this year includes: Abita, Brooklyn, Crispin, Foothills, Holy City, Lagunitas, Leinenkugel, Lonerider, Oskar Blues, Palmetto, RJ Rockers, Sierra Nevada, Sweetwater, Terrapin, and Thomas Creek. All beers are available in 16oz mugs or 3oz samples. Have it your way!

Guests receive a commemorative festival mug, a few beer tickets to get started, and access to tons of included beer-friendly entertainment! Get your geek on at the Earth Fare Beer School to learn about reviewing beer, pairing food with beer, and getting started in home-brewing. Play Beer Olympics Games with your friends including a cornhole tournament with a top cash prize of $150. Hit up the Home-brewers Village to meet local home-brewers and sample their tasty home-brewed beer.

The festival features live music all day with performance from Atlas Road Crew, The Dunder Chiefs, Whiskey Diablo, Regina Ferguson, and New Galaxy.

2nd Annual Spring Jam Music Fest

Spring Jam - LogoThe 2nd annual Spring Jam Music Fest presented by 105.5 The Bridge returns to Brittlebank Park for a jam-packed day of live music on Saturday, March 29th. Two stages, ten bands, side-show performances, and the Arts & Goods Village will line the banks of the Ashley River in celebration of the arrival of spring.

This year’s line-up is stacked with an eclectic mix of bands from across the USA, featuring both emerging and established artists. Augustana, best known for the songs “Boston” and “Sweet and Low”, will kick off their spring tour at Spring Jam Music Fest, featuring hits and new music from their album scheduled to be released later this spring. Up and coming bands The Wild Feathers, Saints of Valory, and Kopecky Family Band will perform, alongside Charleston locals, The Dead 27s and Brave Baby. Also performing are The Weeks, Space Capone, Possum Jenkins, and Death of Paris from Columbia, SC, who won the Fan Favorite Band Vote contest.

The festival experience includes side show acts (to be announced soon), the Arts & Goods Village, and tons of awesome food and drinks. Music lovers of all ages are invited to attend the festival.

Tickets are just $25 in advance and can be purchased online at www.springjammusicfest.com or at Bottles. Ticket will be sold for $33 at the gate.

30th Annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston

There are certain events each year everyone looks forward to taking place in Charleston. One of the most popular and largest annual event to take place in South Carolina is Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, also known locally as SEWE. Taking place February 17-19th, SEWE has grown in 30 years to be the largest event of its kind in the nation, attracting over 500 artists and exhibitors from around the globe who present their offerings to over 40,000 attendees. A 3-day celebration of nature that has earned a reputation for excellence, SEWE now hosts the world’s foremost experts in wildlife and nature art as well as conservation research and environmental education.

Charleston Gears up for Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

Now in its 29th year, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) is one of the largest wildlife art and nature events in the nation, attracting more than 30,000 attendees to beautiful Charleston, SC each year. Running February 18-20, SEWE ’11 will offer diverse exhibits and events in venues throughout downtown Charleston with approximately 120 artists and 300 exhibitors. Events include Birds of Prey flights and children’s activities in Marion Square; chef demos and presentations by Busch Wildlife Sanctuary and Living With Wolves at Gaillard Auditorium, Dock Dogs competitions and retriever demos at Brittlebank Park, lectures, original art at Charleston Place, Mills House, and Francis Marion, nature film screenings, vendors, food, music and much more.

Tickets start at $10/day, and children 10 and under are free. SEWE provides free shuttle service between venues during show hours with a ticket or badge. VIP packages offer extra perks and after-hours activities, including an artist reception, black-tie gala/auction, the SEWE Soiree, a fun, casual party with oysters, BBQ and live music, and access to the hospitality suites throughout the weekend.
