Feast on Lowcountry Blue Crab and Celebrate Awendaw Life at the 25th Annual Awendaw Blue Crab Festival

The 25th Annual Awendaw Blue Crab Festival, hosted by the Town of Awendaw, is set for Saturday, August 27th from 11am – 5pm. Over 3,000 guests are expected to attend and feast away as hundreds of bushels of tasty, local Lowcountry Blue Crabs are served by the bucketful. This will be the first year the family-friendly celebration is held at the new event venue in the Town of Awendaw Municipal Park at 7997 Doar Road.In addition to delicious blue crab served in multiple flavors, the event will feature local food trucks with a variety of options for every palette, as well as beer and wine. Shop more than 75 art and retail vendors, enjoy live music by The Secrets, and get adventurous on hayrides, pontoon boat rides, and a huge kids’ area. Please remember to leave your pets at home.

General admissions tickets are available for $10/ticket when purchased in advance or $15 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Upgrade to the VIP experience for $125 per person. These tickets include one bucket of crab, complimentary food and beverage, private bathrooms, tented seating in the heart of the event, and a VIP entrance to avoid the lines. VIP tickets are limited. All crab buckets, beer and wine, hayrides, and boat rides will require tickets. 
 
This beloved event dates back to 1994 when a small group of Awendaw residents came together to indulge in a few bushels of crabs under the live oak tree at Town Hall. A much larger event-goer population is expected at this year’s event at the Town of Awendaw Municipal Park. Surrounded by mother nature, this 300-acre plot of land is the perfect spot for families to take in the scenery, eat some crabs, and enjoy all the event has to offer. 
 
A portion of all admission proceeds will go to “Build the Park” and other Awendaw Charities.

Taste of Bulls Bay Festival: A Celebration of Culinary Heritage

The Bulls Bay Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the inaugural Taste of Bulls Bay Festival: A Celebration of Culinary Heritage. The event will take place March 18th from 2-6 pm at Awendaw Green at Sewee Outpost, 4853 Hwy 17 N in Awendaw, SC.  We will be showcasing amazing food including the outpost cheese biscuits, Bulls Bay Sea Salt culinary treats, Buck Shots Catering delicious homemade entrees, Sewe Restaurant culinary specialties and delicious seafood. The festival will also include live, local music, and products and service from around the McClellanville and Awendaw community. Admission is a $5 donation at door with ages 12 and under get in free. The uniquely combined 300,000 plus acres of the Francis Marion National Forest and Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is Bulls Bay Historic Passage, located about 25 miles northeast of Charleston. It reflects everything that makes the lowcountry one of the finest places in the nation to live and work. The Bulls Bay Chamber of Commerce is a member-based organization created by local businesses which service the McClellanville and Awendaw area to promote their interest while preserving the natural and cultural resources of the area.

Music and Oysters for Wildlife at Sewee Outpost

1Music and Oysters for Wildlife 10th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Saturday January 10th from 2 pm to 6 pm at Sewee Outpost in Awendaw, SC. Enjoy live, local music, steamed Bulls Bay oysters, craft beer and wine, and a silent auction. It’s all for a good cause, so get your tickets now at eTix. The fun-filled event will be held rain or shine with heated tents but no outside alcohol or pets.

Sewee Association: Music and Oysters for Wildlife

SeweeSewee Association presents Music and Oysters for Wildlife on Saturday, January 11th from 2-8pm at Sewee Outpost, 4853 U.S. 17 North in Awendaw, South Carolina. The live music line up includes The Blue Dogs, Mark Bryan and the Occasional Milkshake, Danielle Howle, Doug Jones, Lincoln Middle High School Steel Band & Red Dog Ramblers. Guests will enjoy all you can eat Bulls Bay Oysters, a live and silent auction and other food and beverages available for purchase. $35 Tickets are on sale at Sewee Dental Care, Sewee Outpost and Etix with children under 12 free.

The proceeds from this event will help the SEWEE Association carry out its mission. The South Eastern Wildlife and Environment Education Association (SEWEE Association) is the Friend’s Group for the National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) and National Forest (NF) of coastal South Carolina that works with federal partners to achieve their mission in biological, cultural and educational activities.
