Keep music education strong in our community while enjoying traditional New Orleans cuisine, dancing and jazz music featuring Cameron and the Saltwater Brass. The Bands of Wando Foundation is a South Carolina nonprofit corporation organized for charitable and educational purposes, and is established to promote music education to students. In order to participate in regional competitions, the Wando band needs financial support as the Charleston County School District only provides $25 for each high school band member. These funds do not begin to cover the financial need for Wando students to compete at this level. Additional funding is also required to attract top musical directors, pay additional staff, offer lessons purchase instruments, and other necessary equipment. Last year, the Wando band was a Bands of America national finalist as well as Bands of America South Carolina regional grand champion, regional finalist & class champion.
