The Dirty Dozen Brass Band & the Last Waltz Ensemble Return to the Pour House
The Dirty Dozen & the Last Waltz Ensemble team up for a special night at the Charleston Pourhouse on Friday, April 18th. Doors open at 8pm with LAST WALTZ kicking it off at 8:45pm, DDBB horns will join the Last Waltz Ensemble followed by a full DDBB show.
To describe how the Dirty Dozen Brass Band has arrived at its 35th Anniversary, trumpet player Gregory Davis employs a tried-and true New Orleans-centric analogy: “It ends up being like a pot of gumbo – you drop in a little okra, drop in a little shrimp, you drop in some crabs. Before you know it, you’ve mixed in all these different ingredients and you’ve got a beautiful soup. That was our approach to music early on and it still is today.”
Started in Atlanta, The Last Waltz Ensemble is a musical group that progressively plays the music of Bob Dylan and The Band. The group is an amalgam of the best players in the nation presenting the legendary and timeless music of the super-group, THE BAND, whose influence is still felt in music nearly 30 years after its last performance.
