The Rose Ball on New Year’s Eve
Written by Megan Waldrep:
Highly imitated, but never duplicated should be the tag line for The Rose Ball, Charleston’s premier New Year’s Eve Party on December 31, 2012. Camille Key of Charleston After Dark and Boris Van Dyck of Icebox Innovative Beverage Services have teamed up to present the biggest and baddest in town.
I can speak from experience that this crew knows how to throw down. Camille Key, the master mind behind past events such as RAIN, LUXE and Charleston Fashion Week after parties has branched out to offer an all inclusive festival of entertainment featuring artists, music, food, as well as signature quality cocktails that only Ice Box can deliver. A clear upgrade from other New Years events, The Rose Ball brings the heat including performances by The Dubplates Band, DJ Arthur Bros., DJ Jake B, Mateo, KlipArt, as well as headliner DJ Ron Reeser from San Francisco will be on site to provide various musical flavors to bring in 2013 on a high note. And let’s not forget the lazer light show by Big Hair Productions (Skinful!) and a performance by Mckenzie Eddy to add to the mix.
Visual artist Banks Pappas will showcase innovative video art instillations, She Is Manhattan and When Vanity Kissed Vanity (Or, An Andy Warhol Hamburger) to add to the allure of the evening. Located in the stylish and upscale Club Level of the Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium, you can cheers your friends on the dance floor or on the roof top looking over the twinkling lights of the Holy City.
Along with musical and visual entertainment, all ticket prices include hors d’oeuvres, premium bar service as well as special surprises throughout the evening. Upgrade to a VIP for special access on the 5th level or to VIP Suite tickets that include a personal bartender, and transportation to and from the event for up to 16 people. Money from ticket sales will benefit the Tanzania Education Foundation, which helps you start the new year off with a good deed and not just a hangover.
With sponsors including City Paper, Art Mag, Charlie, and Charleston International Film Festival to name a few, you can’t go wrong. So do yourself a favor and bring in the new year and a new beginning with VIP’s of the city. Dress to impress and shine up your dancing shoes for THE celebration in town. Go to www.charlestonroseball.chs365.com to book your tickets now before they are sold out in 3, 2, 1……Happy New Year!
