Skinful Halloween 2012
WRITTEN BY MEGAN WALDREP
A Hipster Witch, The Bee Girl and Elwood Blues walk into the woods. Yes, this is the beginning to the best joke you’ve never heard and also a reminder that it’s time to celebrate Skinful Halloween 2012! Each year gets more and more spectacularly fascinating. Just when you think it can’t get any wilder, you turn the corner and find a fire breathing dragon in your path. Literally. A “Disney World for adults” as noted from the puppet-master, founder and animal whisperer Dr. Brian King, the madness will commence once again at the Brick House Kitchen and the surrounding properties on Folly Road. Costumes are encouraged and required.
Eight stages with over 20 music acts, circus performers, burlesque pole dancing troupe, massive video walls, light shows and more will be present to wow and amaze you and all your costumed brethren. Music by DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, Chali2na & Cut Chemist from Jurassic 5, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk and The Dubplates featuring Future Fambo and Zumjay, DJ Logic, ShoNuff, The Royal Tinfoil, Cousin Dan, Holy City Holligans and many other acts will perform throughout the wooded fairyland of madness.
Going on it’s twelfth year, Skinful Halloween will benefit non-profit organizations Keepers of The Wild wildlife rescue to protect abused and neglected captured wildlife and The Tanzania Education Foundation which provides education, nutrition and health programs for a day school in Tanzania.
Shuttles will be running from 6:30 p.m. till 4:30 a.m. to and from Lowes, Gold’s Gym and the Chi Chi’s parking lots, all located on James Island. Other shuttle locations include Juanita Greenbergs in Mt. Pleasant, Loggerheads on Folly Beach and Fuel in downtown Charleston. Check with your favorite bar and restaurants for shuttle information, as many other locations will help with safe travel to the event. You don’t have to be on your best behavior so let your freak flag fly, but extra security and police will be on hand to ensure your safety to, from and within the event.
No coolers allowed this year, so take advantage of the super VIP tickets starting at $2,000. Super VIP will get you a private cabana, bottle service for up to 10 people, a 20-by-20 tent, personal server and lounge furniture for a freaky tailgate for you and your friends.
Sure to be a night you will never forget. Trick or treat.
