“I started Bulls Bay Oyster Roasts to preserve the Lowcountry tradition of wood-fired oyster roasts.  We cook our oysters over a wood fire on a hot steel plate, covered with water-soaked burlap,” said Oliver Thames of Bulls Bay Oyster Roasts. “Nothing can compare to the taste of a Bulls Bay oyster cooked over an oak fire or the comraderie of the crowd enjoying the smell of the smoke and sizzling oysters while waiting anxiously for the next batch!”

Bulls Bay Oyster Roasts is dedicated to sharing their passion for preserving the traditions that surround the Charleston area’s waterways. Drawing from a family heritage in the Lowcountry that dates back for over 300 years, they believe that the most delicious oysters in the world come from the local waters of Bulls Bay. The oyster roast concept was so fascinating to Travel Channel host George Motz that he filmed a short documentary called The Mud and The Blood that will be featured in Charleston’s upcoming film festival. Featuring the guys from Bulls Bay Oyster Roasts, Motz shows all aspects of the roasts from start to finish along with the socializing that goes along with them.
